The Bank has released images of the new $5 banknote that will be issued into circulation from 1 September 2016. The images show the basic design artwork of each side of the banknote, which includes a distinctive top-to-bottom window.

The new 50-franc note has arrived. It is the first of six banknotes being phased in by the Swiss National Bank between 2016 and 2019. Notes from the eighth series remain valid until further notice.
After 30 June 2016, the older 20-, 50- and 1 000-krona banknotes become invalid.
